Abstract submission for poster presentations

The deadline is Friday, March 27, 2020
You still can send your abstract for a poster presentation!

All abstracts will be reviewed by an international committee of fern and lycophyte experts led by the Scientific Committee for Abstracts. Decisions will be announced to authors no later than April 15, 2020.

Instructions
• Abstracts must be in English;
• At least one of the authors must be registered to the Symposium “Ferns in Focus”;
• Registered authors can submit and present a maximum of 2 abstracts (but there is no limit on the number of abstracts as co-author);
• Submit abstracts to: fernsinfocus2020.abstracts@gmail.com; in the Subject write your last name followed by the word abstract (Ex: if your name is Joao Smith, your subject line should be: Smith_Abstract)

• The abstract must contain:
  1. Title
  2. Authors: names and affiliation(s). Indicate with a “*” who will be presenting
  3. Text: must have 300 words or fewer. The following structured format must be used:
    • Premise of the study (why the work was done, what major questions of fern/lycophyte biology are addressed, and why it is important to the broad audience that will attend the Symposium)
    • Methods
    • Key results/ Conclusions (what major points should the reader take from this study).
  4. Keywords: provide 4-8 keywords. Place keywords in alphabetical order, separate them by semicolons, and capitalize any proper nouns. Each “word” can be a short phrase (e.g., “long-distance dispersal” counts as a single keyword).
  5. Indicate your preference for Poster or Oral Presentation (the Committee will make the final decision and will notify the corresponding author). At this time, we can accept only poster proposals!

• Upon abstract submission you should receive an email acknowledgment. If you do not receive the e-mail, contact the Committee at fernsinfocus2020.abstracts@gmail.com (in the Subject use your last name_Question). Acknowledgment of receipt does not mean acceptance by the Scientific Committee for Posters.

Please note that:
• The Committee for Posters and at least one external reviewer will review and approve abstracts based on scientific merit.
• Only the person that submits the abstract will receive information concerning the acceptance or rejection.
• If you have questions, contact us at fernsinfocus2020.abstracts@gmail.com (in the Subject use your last name_Question).
